| If you have a walking cast, DO NOT OVERDO IT!!!!
Suck up your pride and take available help, or you WILL regret forcing yourself!
When I was much younger I broke my ankle and was told that I could go back to work with the cast on after a few weeks. Being young and stupid I wanted to go back as soon as I could.
Well, what the doctors DIDN'T tell me is that I would learn how to walk duck toed on that side because the cast didn't let my ankle pivot. Worse yet when I wore out the bottom of the heel in the second cast (post swelling), they never even THEN cautioned me I was overdoing it, just re wrapped it with a second wrap of fiberglass.
Finally, when the cast came off, I from then on would walk incorrectly. It took almost 10 years before I even KNEW I walked with my toes out.
It has cost me pain and suffering ever since. I walk crooked with my right toes pointing out, my back is janky and always sore, my knees and hips are out of alignment constantly.
Never again will I push myself like that when I get hurt.
Had I just had taken it easy the 6 weeks I had the cast on, I wouldn't be in the situation I have been ever since.
It never occurred to me the long term consequences of pushing myself too hard "trying to get back to work". | |
