Getting elected to a Co-op board is no different than getting elected to the board of any other publicly owned corporation. Get nominated by and elected by the shareholders of the Co-operative.
This takes place at the annual meeting. Most co-op boards will form a nominating committee to search for qualified and willing candidates.
I can guarantee you that the Co-op mergers that NAT claims to be so adamantly opposed to are driven in part by a lack of quality board members.
If you know of co-op boards who are lining their personal pockets in violation of their Co-op bylaws, they are breaking State and possibly Federal law. | |
