"Farmer turns down low ball offer to sell to data center." There is some truth in this, but not quite accurate.... It happened in PA, and it was an astronomically high offer, not a low ball offer. I think someone might have posted a link to the story on AgTalk. I would have to go back and dig to find it. "One that I found interesting is where a data center property tax increase has paid off the school district bond and lowered property taxes for the district. They haven’t even started building the data center yet." I was at a informational meeting on Data Centers last night. The speaker mentioned there have been some situations where the company behind the data center have made payments up front, before any building has started. I think the speaker mentioned about data centers coming in and lower the cost of electricity for all, because of the volume of electricity used. I don't recall him mentioning about school bonds being paid off; however, from what I hear last night, I think it is plausible. PS. for the record, I don't use Facebook as a news source, and I don't understand why anyone would. Then again... people use AgTalk as their news source. Both are social media. So, you could say they are in the same category. ?. edit: here is a link to the story about the farmer who would not - did not - sell to a data center
