Southern Missouri | No such thing as allotments here , my dad put his first field to grade for furrow irrigation in 1962, a 40 acre field and put a 8 inch well about 65 ft deep and put an 8 inch centrifugal pump on that well , centrifugal pumps will only pull water up from a 26 foot depth , I own that field now and after irrigating the heck out of it for 63 years ,you can still put a centrifugal pump on that well and pull water up from that centrifugal maximum depth of 26 feet , we have a pretty good water table here .By the way that ol Gorman Rupp 8 inch centrifugal pump would put out close to 1500 gpm into 8 inch aluminum gated pipe , we had literally miles and miles of 8 and 10 inch gated pipe when the discovery of flexible tubing took over here in the late 80s
