Malta, Illinois | At this point it would make more sense for the announcement to pertain to bio-fuels in some way rather than direct payments. The world is worried about oil and energy prices. What better time to announce some bio-fuels initiative that benefits farmers? Farmers are already stinging from high input prices. Doing something that would in theory help fuel prices and help farmers seems like a win on the surface. There is just one big problem. The oil lobby that is firmly entrenched in Trump's pocket. I wouldn't totally discount the idea of Trump temporarily casting them aside with a stunt to promote bio-fuels and help farmers but I think the odds are stacked against it. More than likely it will be an announcement of more free money that will help no one. I will wait and see I guess. | |
