If the job isn't complete and they don't want to finish it, I would say that you have zero obligation to pay for the labor.  The court would have a hard time holding the asset that is yours.  You more likely would have a claim against the shop for an incomplete repair.  If the vehicle has any significant value I would be asking an attorney sooner, rather than later.
