Pittsburg, Kansas | My dad used to tell the story of cutting hedge posts for sale using an ax and crosscut saw. Then be had a buzz saw mounted on the front of a B JD to cut up any for firewood that would not make a post. Sold lots of posts and corners for off season income.
Hired a cousin for a dollar a day to help. Said he needed work and was so poor that for lunch he would bring a quart jar of plumbs. Only plums for lunch. Because that is what they had. Had a bountiful plum harvest and had canned a bunch up.
Some tough times and people back then.
Said he thought he died and went to heaven when he bought his first chainsaw.
