Tar shingles are what they are on a house. They don’t last and they have issues with blowing off.

A good metal roof on a shed is what everyone does that I know of. Should last most of your life if done right with the better thicker quality steel, kind of an easy choice. Lot of do it yourselfers and small garden sheds get by with the thin siding steel on the roof, that saves now but won’t last as long.

The metal shingles with asphalt sprayed on are the real deal for a house best, but not affordable for a shed.

Lean to roof, regular roof, extra steep roof, angles or obstructions to roof around, all affect a roofing price so it’s hard to say what is cheap or expensive without the details.

I would not want a tar shingle roof on a shed, myself.
