If you tuck that money away it will pay for a new well. Even withdrawing a few times for a pump and a couple pressure tanks.
As well prices go up, monthly fees also go up, so the ratio will stay the same.
Folks can’t budget, but assuming you can expect to hit good water and the original poster said they had a good well, the well will pencil out better. Better off with your own well. Especially on a farm setting where you might use more water than a homeowner.
If you can reasonably expect a good well in your location.
I think the 200 foot well dad had in 1971 was $4000 - that included more plumbing to set up kind of from scratch. The 410 foot well I had in 2012 was $12,000. Money ahead of a monthly bill over the past 648 months.
