| I think they will be "fine" but they are also in a damn hard position to grow much faster than the economy IMO. Nothing moves the needle anymore. They bought Pilot Flying J a few years ago, it was a "big" purchase at $20B or so and that is like 2% of their assets. And for the most part it doesn't look like they got much of a deal on the purchase to me. I dont think they got screwed but I dont think it was a home run at all. And just imagine how much the window narrows on the + side of $20B. There just aren't that many companies that big and everyone is going over them daily with a fine tooth comb. So it's really hard to get much of an edge. They've only done one organic growth story from the home office that I can think of in their Re-insurance business, the rest has been buying existing companies. But again, putting enough money to use to move the needle is hard. The current CEO is probably a better "operator" than Buffett ever was but he is all but guaranteed not to be as skilled of a capital allocator as the old man was. All that said I think BRK will be fine. | |
