Watched something saying that China's debt is an estimate. When you include state ran or heavily state subsidized businesses it could creep up to 200-300% of debt to GDP. One estimate put it possibly at the high end of 450% of GDP.

They do a good job of controlling narrative. They implemented clean water regulations on waste water in 2019 from die castings. There was no infrastructure for that, so they just fined businesses over violation. A die caster that I knew as a supplier was moving more die casting to Vietnam due to that. They weren't upset at the regulation, just the improper planning with no infrastructure in place for the policy.
