It sure feels like it's taking more free and clear acres to float an additional one using debt.
My parents bought an 88 csr farm in 2002 for 2,650/acre and I remember they were paying 140/acre rent for the neighboring farm at that time.
Anybody remember what interest would have been then for a 15yr. mortgage? It would be interesting to do a comparison. Id say it would have been at the 8-9% range. The prime rate hit about 10% just a couple years prior. |
