Subject: RE: soybean seed size

South Central Illinois

I am going to say,
Small seed produces a larger crop,
1st we have to ask why was the seed small in the first place?
Good chance that the plant over produced pods and then it fully pollinated these pods,
And then the weather conditions prevented the seeds from filling out completely.
So only a high producing plant in a low producing environment will produce small seed.
A low producing plant in a high producing environment will produce large seed.
We went nearly 3 months without rain last year,
From July 25 to October 15.
