Back in the 80's, land sat idle because no one could afford or wanted to take on a loss. It is hard to fathom this being a thing, but you can't rule it out.
Quite a few farmers got their start then as well, as "I can't make money on it but go have fun, see if you can". Then again it was probably owned by someone in agriculture and not an investment company.
If it sits idle then it will make half the people here happy, taking land out of production. |
