If it was an average rainfed crop in the Northeast (~300 cwt/ac) then you'd have ~90# of N and ~150# K2O just in the tubers themselves. We've dumped thin layers of cull potatoes on fields near the barn before and those dump zones are absolutely turbocharged the next year.

We've grown sweetcorn following potatoes, and the potatoes show up but are not at all problematic. And we don't use broadleaf herbicides.
