North Mississippi Delta / Alabama Gulf Coast | When my great grandmother passed, there was a 24 hr wake at my grandfather’s home for friends and family to visit.
The women brought food and men brought shine. Ladies sat inside with coffin and chatted while men hung out in yard sipping.
This went on all night til the next day funeral. I was about 7 or 8 at the time and was spooked by my Ma’s cold body. |
