We do but imports aren’t America First aka the US is losing with trade deficits. The absolute fastest thing that could be done is to lift the phosphate import duties on Morocco and Canada import tariffs for Potash.

AA is a little more fungible as NG is still cheap in places like the Middle East and Caribbean which means cheap AA.

Edit: It’s also a world market. As world/US fertilizer price spread rises, US producers will export their fertilizer if it provides a better return.

According to agronomist at coop there is no duty on import of Canadian potash.

After further research I came up with this.

As of April 2025, the U.S. imposed a 10% tariff on Canadian potash not covered by the USMCA (CUSMA) agreement, following a reduction from an earlier 25% threat. While the U.S. relies on Canada for nearly 90% of its supply, this tariff is part of broader trade actions aimed at encouraging domestic fertilizer production.
