When you talk about prices compared to a the past and the high cost of inputs everybody starts in with the brain dead "but dah yeildes be sooo much bettah" bull

Go back lets say 30 years and look not at the price of beans. Nor the cost of seed. None of that specifically. Look at the overall big picture and then tell me how happy you are with your $11 bean sale you did.
Big picture, what big picture you ask.

Look at how many times you could go to McDonalds 30 years ago and buy a Cheeseburger fries and Chocolate malt meal off the net income from 1 acre of Soybeans
Then do the same today.
Still like that there $11 bean sale you made?
It is a non judgemental, non biased direct comparison of the purchasing power of 1 acre of Sobybeans.
Now I know some will come on and whine, "but but, why don't you just tell me, brain stuff be hard, specially duh mathey stuff wiff numbers, make bwain hurt"
