Driftless SW Wisconsin
If there's moisture at 3 or 4" and little chance of rain some folks have had success putting your trash wheels down to throw some dry soil out so you can set seed depth at 2" but still be in 4" deep moisture. Basically plant in the bottom of a 2" deep furrow.

The idea is to get the seed planted nicely into moistureand up and growing quickly before the next rain washes soil back into the furrow.

Obviously don't do this on hills or try to go on the contour. On flat ground just go.

Make sure you have enough weight on the planter and downforce on the row unit. To keep the gage wheels on the depth stop. In the old days we would put a sandbag in the insecticide box or wire a cinderblock on the row unit behind the seed box.

Just an idea for emergencies. Good luck.
