Would they stand up to them? I don't know...
They are the worlds sweat shop, but they can't fuel it or feed themselves without large quantities of imports.
Australia losing its raw materials export, or the US losing its Chinese imports would no doubt be devastating, it would cause massive inflation, but it wouldn't mean the complete destruction of our nation. We can feed and fuel ourselves unlike China.
There are other nations to partner with for production. I've read somewhere that the labor costs in China are actually higher than in Mexico, the only problem is the factories are already in china. Stuff like that is not an overnight solution though. There would be lots of pain... | |
