It’s not nearly as cut and dry as you think. You’re not going to get SA beans to the eastern US until late summer. And that has a whole lot more to do with sourcing cost than shipping aka SA beans are plentiful and looking for a home vs NOLA beans like pulling teeth to source. It’s not the Jones act that drives US grain movement.


Edit: There are trains constantly running to the SE feed market sourced from the eastern corn belt. Primary destination of grain not within 60 miles of the river or an e-plant.



The jones act inflates rail rates too.
