Chebanse, IL.....

I realize people are selling stuff, but I question the Bayer CropScience CRW forecast.

"Here", we watch for CRW closely every year. 10 yrs ago NE IL had very high infestations. However, they have now dwindled. Many seed corn dealers put up sticky traps. The past 2 yrs about all the traps were able to catch were some kind of lacewing bugs. Just about 0.0 CRW everywhere.

Another tell-tale we watch is when mowing road ditches in the late summer. Check the tractor radiator screens or cab windows. Are there any CRW? No....not in 2025.

We also note bugs that gather on sprayer when spraying either soybeans or corn with fungicide. No CRW again. Even "some" would be expected, but the count was generally 0.

Those are our personal observations in Kankakee & Iroquois counties. I'm just reporting what we saw. I realize other parts of corn growing areas may have different observations.
