I don't know if Hydroxychloroquine was banned, but it was never shown to have any efficacy either, same with Ivermectin, except in Argentina.   

The problem here, is that the right has succumbed to Authoritarianism. It has a really strong streak of "I can always tell you what to do, but you can never tell me what to do." This is constantly reinforced by talk radio, Fox News, and their other right wing media outlets. 

Some of us just chose to believe that people with multiple PHd's, who had spent a lifetime researching contagious diseases, at agencies that had made it their ongoing work to learn how to respond to such diseases, probably knew what they were talking about vs Preacher Jed and "doing your own research". It's also remarkeably like Oppositional defiant disorder. When Trump was developing the vaccines, they were the greatest thing ever, but when the Biden administration tried to mandate the vaccines it was suddenly pandemonium. If Biden had said hey, "we should be very careful with these vaccines, I wouldn't recommend them," the right would have bent over backwards to demand them.  It'll be fine though, RFK Jr has destroyed most of the that infrastructure. What could go wrong? 

Ask yourself, why did a State like South Dakota, with some of the lowest population densities in the U.S., also have among the higher death rates?
