That is true. The company that I am still a consulting engineer for sold two large machines about 30 years ago to Indonesia. At the time I never gave it a thought where Indonesia was located. But last year we shipped another machine to Indonesia. I now know Indonesia is the largest Muslim county in the world with about 300 million population. It consists of about 13,000 islands and covers an area of 2400 miles x 1200 miles if I remember correctly. Very hard working people and has oil and minerals. A guy I went to engineering school with graduated in geological engineering and spent his whole working career there and I think he married a local girl. He returned to the Flint,Mi area when he was in his 60s and had cancer and died shortly after his return.
The first two machines were sold to Shell Oil who still has a presence there.
But those machines have been sold all over the world and I study each county when I learn the machine destination. Sold most to Russia I would say. Poland, South Africa, New Zeeland, etc etc.
Most americans are totally ignorant about other areas of the world especially about SE Asia. | |
