S Illinois | How much of the US military spending do you attribute to defending Europe? What if there would be practically zero change in US military spending if all of the sudden the US would pull out of NATO? What if all of those European bases were not for European defense but rather US power projection across the rest of the globe? Europe the land mass makes for a very nice “aircraft carrier” and “fuel depot”. Not to mention it’s sure nice not having allies sitting at practically every corridor that every attack from the east would come from.
US military spending is not NATO spending. The EU could spend 10% and practically all US military commanders would still want US spending to be maintained for their own use. | |
