I'd recommend the YouTube channel What's Going on with Shipping to learn about the situation. I've watched him for years and consider him to present level headed and factual information. I know some with strong political leanings on way or the other probably won't like him.

The Iranians are letting shipping through.. see map.. where ships are passing by Iran coast vs going through the channels. Are the Channels mined?
Note the one which headed for the channel.. stopped.. then turned towards Iran.. paid the bribe or whatever.. then passed.
