A guy that I know owned a seat on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Another guy from the area was his floor runner. The Floor runner invested everything he had into one of the very first electronic trading platforms at the time. His boss also invested significantly. 

The floor runners family was teachers, and his Dad did home inspections. Suddenly they're building subdivisions in a nearby city and own a microbrewery. Made hundreds of Millions in the space of a few years. All that money came from someone else.........
