Subject: RE: Prednisone ?

East central Iowa

I used to have severe allergies and they would lead to congestion that required prednisone.   5 tabs, the 4, the 3 etc.  it worked to stop the severe congestion and other effects from pollen and dust but my craving for sweets increased.  Some said it was just my imaginination, however this is what is said about prednisone:

Prednisone frequently causes increased appetite and intense cravings for sweets by mimicking cortisol, which boosts hunger and impacts blood sugar regulation. This appetite surge often leads to weight gain and fat redistribution. Managing these cravings involves choosing high-protein/fiber foods, limiting simple sugars, and eating small, frequent meals.
