Without being in your shoes and knowing what you know, I'm not comfortable offering advice to allow access or not. If this is Iowa, its extremely unlikely you will have any legal right to deny if this is the only access point. If there are other access points, the other party could potentially claim a prescriptive easement but it would take a fair amount of proper circumstances and history on their end. No, an enforceable prescriptive does not need to be recorded. If they claim prescriptive easement and you choose to fight it, it will in fact be a fight. Be prepared for a judge to temporarily give them permission during this fight. Whatever you do, do not cowboy up and block the road physically without legal authority to do so.
