SW, Missouri | I think the Joplin tornado changed awareness in this area. A couple years after the big Joplin tornado I was at the Cheddar's in Joplin and there was a tornado warning that went into affect. In no short order they had everyone in the restrooms for shelter, I commented this is Joplin and they don't mess around now. A few years ago I had a tornado that was within 1/8 mile of my house and it didn't a fair amount of damage to our local community. After that I pay more attention than I did in my younger days but I don't get scared, just a healthy respect for the storms. | |
