You are wise to talk about it now. Don't be lulled into putting it off.

In my time I saw too many times where "the kid" was almost retirement age and still working under the thumb of Dad.

My Dad was 67 and I was 30 when we sat town at the kitchen table. It didn't go well, I found a town job but was able to find an empty dairy barn available to rent the next spring.
