Those costs are exceptional, almost has to include a lot of power going to heat the interior. Remember, diesel is "free" interior heat. Hard to make a battery electric vehicle that innefficient without electric heat.

Now, if you added up the total per mile cost nationwide for electric school buses, including repairs, insurance and depreciation. I wouldn't be at all surprised at a $5-10/mile figure. The "turnover" on municipal electric buses has been huge, and it seems like school buses learned nothing from existing transit bus technology.
