What sieve frame update are you talking about? What did it entail and when did it come out?
For the OP, there's no real reason to be scared of a red top 8010. The biggest thing is that they're approaching 20 years old and you're looking at one with 4000/2800 hours on it.
It could be a well maintained machine that will run another 1000 hours with minimal repairs or it could be a worn out piece of junk that needs $50,000 dumped into it to make it usable. Even with service records it is imperative that you have someone that knows Flagship combines look at that machine with you. Someone that knows all of the expensive wear points.
We've had a red top 8010 for the past 12 years. Its been a good combine for us. Most of what we've worked on is just normal stuff that wears out from crop material rubbing on it.
IDK, how long the seller had that combine and heads together but those little heads are definitely an advantage for less wear/hour on that size of combine. In anything less than 250 bpa corn and 75 bpa beans you couldn't hardly drive fast enough to work that combine hard with those heads. Less material going through the combine = less wear. 5 mph with those heads and yields would have flow rates of 3000 and 1100 bph, neither of which is pushing that size of combine very hard.
