ne nebraska | 4920's have the 8.1 liter deere engine. Shouldn't have much trouble with that. There isn't much preventive, that I know of anyway, to do as far as hydro and wheel motor maintenance. Keep your oil and filters changed. I do the hubs twice a year with synthetic 80w-140. Usually you don't have to worry about changing the hydro oil as at some point during the year, you will blow a hose and and empty your reservoir on to the ground. That is one weak point on that machine compared to the 4930/4940, the later models have better hose separation so they don't seem to rub through as bad. I guess I haven't noticed the weight of them being an issue, but I never had a deere sprayer smaller than the large frame 4920/30/40. With those hours, that machine should be sub 30k for price. If your using it as a farmer owned rig(not custom app), the capacity is nice of them. I used to work for a coop and we went from a Rogator 1254 to the deere 4920, dang them things were animals!!! I think you would be happy with it, just be aware, you are going to blow a hose and probably need to refill that 25 gallon-ish reservoir atleast once every season.
If I recall, deere offers some sort of filter kit to put in line back to the tank, so if there is a catastrophic hydraulic failure, you don't contaminate the entire system. | |
