Guys with lots of space like the tele handlers. Here with what we do with our skid loaders they would be useless on 75 % of the duties.Once you get the jobs you are destined to use the unit for figured out,,rent one of the choices. It would be a slick repost to read on your decision. If you are into buildings with doors that are 8ft ish width or lower headroom or in a box truck body a tele will not do it.Costs of tele handlers (if I am correct) are more than 2 x the skid loaders. So there is that as well.I do not know resale on tele's but you can save 10,000$ by buying a skid loader with just a few hours of use compared to new. After that they stay quite level til 3,000 hours ish then it is way cheaper.
How big of telehandlers are you comparing to? For similar lift capacity, compact telehandlers aren’t dimensionally much if any bigger than skids. Other than the ability to spin around in place (which invariably tears something up) they’ll get into pretty well all the same spaces. For every thing that an ssl does that a tele can’t, there are two things the telehandler will do that the skid won’t. They’re also nowhere near 2x the cost. Also worth mentioning that skids get at lot cheaper at 3,000 hours because they become maintenance hogs. Nothing is going to beat wheel loaders there, big or small.
