NE Iowa | Right or wrong, I landed with a Kubota SVL75. Was replacing an older open cab Deere 317. Musts for me were an enclosed cab, power detach. I pretty much wanted tracks, as I knew what kind of ruts my 6000# skid left in soft soil - that wasn't going to get any better with a 9000# skid on wheels - even with a little bigger tires. Really wanted to stay with a Deere or maybe a CAT - 2 things pointed me away from them - cabs/legroom were pretty cramped (I'm 6'4" / 300#) and need bucket nearly all the way down to open the door. Can open the door on the Kubota regardless of where the bucket is, and lots more entry/egress room as well as room in the cab. Now that I've had it for awhile, the tracks certainly have their place and hasn't really hindered me from doing anything, but I think I could get away with a wheeled machine. But around here, I don't see much of a price difference between Kubota tracks vs wheels. My $.02 - worth every bit of what you paid for it. | |
