Subject: Eye protection

Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa
I have worn eyeglasses since I was 8 years old. I had both cataracts removed and new lens placed last December, everything turned out nearly perfect, vision wise. No need to wear those glasses anymore.

So yesterday I get the bright idea to get the old BB gun out and sight it in. I stepped out of my shop, aimed it at an empty one gallon paint can I had covering something about 25 feet away, and right before pulling the trigger, I thought to myself "Maybe I should go get a pair of safety glasses?". Naw, what are the chances of that BB bouncing back this far ? I would have to hit the can first. Pulled the trigger, and sure enough, hit the paint can, and then heard the BB bounce off the tin shed about 2 feet from my right ear.

As Sgt. Esterhaus used to say on Hill Street Blues 40 years ago: "Let's be careful out there."
