Holly Hill, SC | I just got my tech manual for my 8310R. Needed it to diagnose a soft starting problem with mine. Attached are two photos of the solenoid locations and gears they operate. Find the common link that is causing your problem. I am not guaranteeing this is the same as your tractor.
For example mine will not "feather" the clutch release at start in gears 5, 7, 9, 11 and R2. Common link is BC solenoid. I plan on changing or swapping the solenoid.
