Subject: Anyone on here read Barn Gothic:Three Generations and the Death of the Family Farm?

Saw a new farming book was published. Apparently it is family account of a writer who grew up on a commercial dairy farm in the Southern Tier of New York during the 1990s. Seems like a fairly realistic account of the modern farming experience. Dairy farming was pretty solid for decent operators in the 1980s. Folks borrowed more money to build a free stall and parlor. Never quite became what it was supposed to be. Old man with a track record of success and holding the money has a head injury and starts making poor choices. Winds up giving away half the farm. The resulting stress and declining industry drive the family away. Parents encourage son to pursue other opportunities. Father (probably overwhelmed) crushes himself with skid loader. Already financially compromised, Father struggles to run the farm with a major injury. Farm no longer operates. Local BTO bought/rented the remaining land as well as took over the other farms in the area. Community is a shell of what it used to be. What was a state of the art barn in it's day is now empty and falling apart. Seems like a sad story but pretty typical for rural america. Was curious if anyone here grew up around the author and knows the operation.
