Another interesting thing about bins is they allow you to sell ahead. Like the price in May? Take the price in May. If you're strictly on the board, depending on month, it may or may not get there. You may or may not capture that. Like JRCS, we really aren't just store and hope. We typically sell ahead for harvest what we can't hold. We will forward price stuff once it's in the bin if we like the price. We'll hold grain if we don't like the basis, etc, etc, etc. I know a lot of guys who have done some pretty complex futures and options strategies in the past, and nearly all of them are back to forward contracting some and then doing more or less "timed sales" with the balance.
