It’s a tough time to buy much land if you’re just starting so I would suggest they shake the bushes and see if they can get some ground leased. It’s not easy but there are a few crappy tenants that would be prime targets. Might talk to a farmer that is getting close to retirement and talk about ways to start taking over his/her acres gradually.
