Eastern Shore of MD | I would not be afraid of a well maintained 3,000 hr 4420. We purchased one from a local retailer 10 ish years ago with 5,XXX hrs. About to turn 7,700 today. No engine work since we have had it.
Have had some expected issues due to age and hrs of use but nothing real major. Hyd charge pump usually only last a few thousand hrs and have replaced hyd lines and a few wheel seals but that is about all I can remember. Knees might need attention at some point also.
Ran 14,000 gal suspension fert thru it today and ran like a top. That is a big day for me. It burns a qt of oil about every other day - that is about the worst thing I can think of right now.
More creature comforts as you get into newer models but that is no deal breaker for me.
