Subject: How long before you are a trusted "brand" or cattleman?

SE Wisconsin
I am fairly new in my cattle owning experience and am trying to learn as much as possible very quickly. Somethings just take time and age. You maybe need to make the wrong decision to make sure you make the right ones next time. I am interested to hear other professional opinions.

First, when did you think you "understood" or felt more comfortable with your cattle business? Where you can adapt as the market allows or needs. or maybe you trust your own process that no matter what happens, you have the knowledge and experience to continue.

Second, if you are a seedstock producer selling cows and bulls, how long before you trusted selling or marketing to the public instead of say family and friends? I see a ton of farms all over our country saying 5th generation, 4th gen, 8th gen etc selling bulls and bred cows or heifers... Interesting to see how long it takes to build that history or reputation. Seems in cattle its longer than most other industries. for good reason I think.

I understand farming and cattle are time consuming. Each one takes a year to get a result, and then that takes years of consistency to see or earn a reputation. Its just interesting to me. I feel like if I continue down this path, I would not be able to earn that reputation until my Grandkids are going. lol

Thanks in advance
