I would have him look at being an exchange student to the outback of Australia or New Zealand at the end of high school. If he takes the right classes now it can be structured to graduate early in the U.S. so classes wont matter abroad. I spent a year chasing cattle, sheep, and girls, my senior year of high school in the out back and it was amazing.
