North Central Indiana | It’s not “better” than harvest except that the combine isn’t waiting 2-3 hours for the truck and the beans aren’t drying down in the sun or waiting until tomorrow while the truck sits at the elevator. So it’s not exactly apples to apples there either.
We do the same, fill the hopper and another bin that dumps direct to the leg and haul out in mornings and rain days. As you said, great way to utilize the time window of harvesting while not needing extra bin space to do it. Hopper has to be empty to start corn but the other bin we can hold if we want and then empty before we finish corn. | |
