Subject: Keys to helping next generation

NCSD
Hey all..
I’d like a little input from NAT cowboys..
My oldest son is 13. He shows serious interest in cattle.
I’m looking for advice on what I could do to help him gain experience, knowledge and confidence so he can have a leg up on starting a career of his own.
Currently he helps me work cattle every chance he gets.
He is looking forward to helping me calf out cows and heifers this year.
Knows the risks/rewards of the cow-calf operation.

What else can I do to prepare him to raise cattle?

Please no responses saying “buy all the pasture you can”.
That’s a given. But simply not many opportunities here.

He bought his first heifer last year and 3 more this year. So he has real skin in the game.

Just looking for other ideas. What have you seen work well? What did your dad do (or wish he did)?

Thanks and look forward to responses!
