Bottom of the Mitten | I went to $4.00 + processing this last fall. Thats somewhere pretty close to sale barn price, maybe a little higher. I feel if you'd rather go buy one from the sale barn thats ok. You wont know what you're getting and you can't buy a 1/4 or 1/2 and you'll need to pay that day, bring your own trailer, and have a butcher date set up 6-12 months earlier. If i remember correctly mine works out to around $6/lb of packaged meat in your freezer. Decent burger at Walmart is over $6/lb. I'm selling 20 month old grain fed beef steers in excellent condition, not half dead 20 year old dairy cows. With freezer beef there's extra time involved with setting up butcher dates, dealing with people that don't have the money, and the ones that back out all together so I don't feel bad charging a premium price for a premium product. I probably should be a bit higher on my price but its sometimes difficult to find buyers with that kind of money just laying around with today's beef prices | |
