I'm going to be honest, I didn't read all of the replies, but I will share my take on the subject. If you disagree, that is ok, just be respectful.

I don't agree with the concept of wearing hats in church. My basis for my reasoning can be found in 1 Corinthians 11:4 - "Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head."

In my believes, it's a sign of disrespect. Much like eating/drinking in church, I feel like one should refrain themselves from the hour or two they are there every week. Much like going to one's own house, how would they react if I walked in and disrespected their home, their livelihood, and treated their belongings with the intent of doing whatever I pleased? This is the Lord's house, it should be treated with dignity and respect. Much like removing head coverings during the national anthem, it is a traditional gesture of respect, solemnity, and signaling honor. I feel like anyone with some dignity should take the initiative to be respectful.

Now I am comfortable enough with my faith that if someone shows up wearing a hat or other questionable attire, it's not going to disrupt me from worshipping and doing what I came to church to do.

One has to understand as well, that if a person who is lost comes in and is actively seeking the Lord and his presence, who am I turn one away? Or any of us for that matter? In fact we should embrace them with open arms, because we were all born sinners, regardless of how perfect we think we are. For one who never grew up in a church, or ever attended, if they showed up in shorts, baggy t-shirt, and flat bill hat (you get the picture), what would your first impression be? Would you turn them away because they "don't fit the picture?", or would you welcome them in and pray that they allow God to enter their soul and allow them to feel convicted enough to clean up their image?

This, along with a lot of other church and spiritual related topics, can go down a much larger rabbit hole than what has been discussed so far, but that is simply a quick overview of where I stand on the matter.
