Totally agree on the weather this year, it would be very dangerous to assume we'll have the same weather every spring. There have been many Marchs where my cow below would be calving on an ice rink and the outcome very different.

A very different environment than mine but you do show how a good, locally adapted cow can do the job on her own.

I like a cow that aggressively protects her calf after birth. That's why I gave up trying to tag newborns. My cows are like teddy bears except after calving. And I don't have a horse!
