The countries such as Qatar UAE, Saudi Arabia do not have ships or knowledge to protect ships.

You are right we (US) gets very little oil from this region, If we do not do this protection then the countries buying this oil will buy oil from the places we buy oil.

I wonder how much of this oil is used to make gasoline for California and Washington. If this oil is used for this purpose then the price of gas is going up in the states on the west coast.
